Greece Test

Announcements:
Insect Museum is 11/20! Come see the incredible projects our scholars have created at our Insect Museum on Wednesday morning from 9:00-9:40am. Parents coming to see the museum do not need to sign in at the front office, but will instead enter the MPR through the drop off/pickup doors.

Ancient Greek day is 11/26!

Please consider signing up to contribute supplies or volunteer your time to make this a great day for second grade!

Scholars may dress up for Ancient Greece day as their favorite Greek god or goddess, or as a mortal Greek citizen. Please keep in mind the following guidelines:
Students do not need to wear their uniforms under their costume if their costume meets the same criteria we listed for Literary Character Day:
1. Shoulders need to be covered. No tank tops, sleeveless shirts, or spaghetti straps, please.
2. Bottoms (dresses, skirts, or shorts) should be no shorter than two inches above the knee.
3. Athletic shoes are still required. They do not have to be white. No sandals, flip-flops, or heels.
If your child's costume meets these requirements, they do NOT need to wear their uniform underneath. If your child's costume doesn't meet these requirements, they need to wear their uniform underneath. Anyone not in compliance will need to call home and have a change of clothes brought to them or wear a loaner pair provided by the nurse.  **If you are on the fence, feel free to send your child to school with a uniform in their backpack.
If students have a weapon as part of their costume (a trident for Poseidon, or bow and arrow for Artemis, etc.) please make sure that it is cardboard or plastic, and inform the student that they will have to keep it in the back of the classroom for the entirety of the morning.
Scholars should be able to do normal activities for the morning portion of school and be undistracted by the costume as much as possible.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
2A is in need of volunteers in order for the reading group program to continue. Please sign up to read with students if you have a volunteer clearance badge and the availability. Any help is appreciated, even if your student is not in 2A!

Please send your student with a healthy snack and lunch to help him or her be successful throughout the day in the classroom.  We have noticed that students who have highly-processed and sugary meals have difficulty concentrating in class and regulating behavior, especially in the afternoon.

As the weather (and our classrooms) becomes cool, school dress code states that students may wear a Cicero uniform sweater/sweatshirt or a solid navy sweater inside (no hoodies, please).  They may wear other types of jackets and sweatshirts outside at recess.

Reading groups continue this week, and students should be reading their leveled readers out loud with parents 20-30 minutes every night. Please send books back to school on Mondays and Thursdays. Remember to record your child’s reading time in their planners!
