Announcements:

- Our first class order from scholastic is due on October 30. If you'd like to purchase some books for your scholar, visit scholastic.com/bookclubs and use the code QWCF3

Currently they are offering home delivery, as well as a free book when you spend $10 and a free book of choice when you spend $25. Each book you buy helps provide books for our class library :)

-Sign up for reading groups here!: https://signup.com/go/FDNFAjZ

- Please send your student with a healthy snack and lunch to help him or her be successful throughout the day in the classroom.  We have noticed that students who have highly-processed and sugary meals have difficulty concentrating in class and regulating behavior. (Please keep this in mind as Halloween approaches).

-Please remember to send your child with a reusable water bottle for the school day.

-Please send your scholar with their composition notebook, if you did not already bring it on the first day of school.

-Reading groups begin this week, and students should be reading their leveled readers out loud with parents 15-20 minutes every night. Please send books back to school on Mondays and Thursdays.

-For students returning to campus, please send your edukit or school supplies with your scholar if you did not drop them off before fall break.

-Please note that If you are dropping your scholar before 7:40 am, make sure to reserve a spot for your scholar in our morning club. They also must wear their mask prior to morning temperature checks in the car line. Students without a mask won't be allowed in the classrooms and will have to wait for you to provide one for them at the front office.  Beginning October 20, the school will no longer be providing masks to scholars who forget. If your child forgets, we will have them call their parents at the front office. We highly recommend placing some extra masks in your scholar’s backpack as a backup. Morning Club signup link: https://signup.com/go/vFmMVhA

If you are using the morning club, please make sure you pull into the drop off lane closest to the school and proceed through  the teacher parking lot to the teachers on duty.

Thank you in advance and hope you enjoy a wonderful break!

Foreign Lands - Due 10/30

 Foreign Lands (Due 10/30)

by Robert Louis Stevenson
Up into the cherry tree
Who should climb but little me?
I held the trunk with both my hands
And looked abroad in foreign lands.

I saw the next door garden lie,
Adorned with flowers, before my eye,
And many pleasant places more
That I had never seen before.

I saw the dimpling river pass
And be the sky's blue looking-glass;
The dusty roads go up and down
With people tramping in to town.

If I could find a higher tree
Farther and farther I should see,
To where the grown-up river slips
Into the sea among the ships,

To where the road on either hand
Lead onward into fairy land,
Where all the children dine at five,
And all the playthings come alive.
