Announcements:

If you leave the country for the holiday weekend (including Mexico) there is a 14 day mandatory quarantine period that your child will not be allowed at school.

This week we will continue reading The Boxcar Children. Our next book is Cricket in Times Square.  Please purchase this book if you have not already done so, and send it in with your scholar.

We plan to begin our leveled reading program this week.  Once we have assessed your child, please look for their leveled reader located inside their red book bag.  Please send red book bags back to school on Mondays and Thursdays. Please use your child’s leveled reader for their 20 minutes of nightly reading.

Now that scholars are coming straight to classrooms beginning at 7:20, we would like additional non-academic activities for them to do. We have happily been providing paper packets of “fun” activities and would like to expand that to more tactile options. If you have any of these items at home that you would like to donate to the class (they can be used) we will happily utilize them.

Play-doh

Legos

Puzzles small enough to fit on a child’s desk when complete (Up to 60 pieces)

Magnetic building apparatus toys

Educational Games

Please see the below note from our Assistant Headmaster, Edward Blair:

Hello everyone!

We want to invite you all to join our Love and Logic Parent Night next Thursday, September 10th from 6PM-7PM. Larry Kirby will be going into detail what Love and Logic looks like and how it is implemented here at the school and how we can implement it at home as well. Love and Logic is the discipline philosophy we use here at the school. Whether you are a brand new parent or a returning parent, we would like to invite you to hear and see some of the techniques we use at school to handle those situations where scholars are off task, not following directions, etc. This will be held via zoom and it will be recorded for those who are unable to attend it live.

The zoom link is below. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Have a wonderful and safe weekend!
